Exploring the Intersection of Green Claims, Digital Product Passports, and AI Law: Enhancing Consumer Protection in Sustainable Product Purchases

This project, involving a strategic Portugal/Japan partnership, brings together expertise in consumer law, sustainability, AI and digital regulation, addressing emerging challenges related to the proliferation of environmental claims, the implementation of Digital Product Passports in the European context, and the increasing use of algorithms in the digital economy. In addition to holding public seminars, the project includes academic visits, workshops and strategic meetings aimed at aligning comparative research methodologies and planning joint publications. One of the main outcomes will be the translation and circulation of knowledge between different legal systems, promoting the transfer of results to policymakers, regulatory authorities, and consumer protection organisations. This is, therefore, an initiative that seeks to develop more coherent regulatory responses, strengthen consumer trust and promote sustainable, transparent, and technologically responsible market models.
