Science and Technology Manager
DESCRIPTION
JusGov is an organic sub-unit of the School of Law of the University of Minho and an R&D unit of this University, evaluated with “Very Good” by FCT, which develops fundamental and applied research in the area of Law, from an interdisciplinary perspective, seeking to understand and respond to some of the main challenges facing contemporary societies, in particular the promotion of inclusive and violence-free societies, the realisation of gender equality, the guarantee of access to justice under equal conditions and the building of legitimate and efficient institutions at all levels.
JusGov seeks to hear from the community of those interested in holding a position as a science and technology manager.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
– Support to the preparation and submission of applications under national and international funding programmes, with a special focus on the technical-administrative, financial and proposal writing and review components;
– Technical support in the contractualisation, implementation and administrative and financial management of national and international research and technological development projects.
REQUIREMENTS
– Qualifications:
– Hold a degree in a scientific area relevant to JusGov’s activities (namely in Law, Economics, Management or Public Administration);
– Candidates with a Master’s degree are valued.
– Other requirements:
– Experience in performing similar functions in similar institutions;
– Excellent oral and written command of the Portuguese and English languages;
– Knowledge of national and European public research policies;
– Have a good command of computer science from the user’s perspective, with experience in database management and scientific information management, and relevant training in scientific production metrics;
– Professional experience in the areas covered by the project and professional experience in an international environment will be valued;

An international selection tender is now open, until August 5th 2022, for recruitment in the form of an uncertain term contract concluded under the Portuguese Labour Code, of 1 (one) doctoral researcher position of initial level under private, within the scope of the Program Contract signed with the Foundation for Science and Technology on December 28, 2021, reference no. CEECINST/00018/2021, of the Scientific Employment Stimulation Contest – Institutional, with a view to developing research work at the Justice and Governance Research Center(JusGov), namely: participating in the development and execution of R&D projects and related under its responsibility; collaborate in the development of training actions within the scope of the R&D methodology; monitor the research work carried out by the grantees and participate in their training; collaborate in teaching and participate in the institution’s training programs; guide higher education students, namely undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students; perform the functions for which they have been elected or appointed in Organs collegiate bodies of the institution to which they belong.
Any national, foreign and stateless candidates who hold a doctoral degree in the field of knowledge/specialty that shows an appropriate profile for the activities to be developed.
For the purpose of determining the appropriate profile for the activity to be developed, the following are special requirements:
- Proven experience in the scientific area of the contest of at least 2 years;
- Doctoral degree completed more than 5 years prior, with a relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which one is applying, with no requirement to demonstrate scientific independence
- At least two scientific papers, on the specific areas of the competition, published in international scientific journals indexed in Hein-Online, JSTOR or SSRN databases;
- Oral and written proficiency in English.

Applications are invited, until October 31th 2018, for a research assistant position to be part of the FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC) funded project InclusiveCourts – Equality and cultural difference in the practice of Portuguese courts: Challenges and opportunities for an inclusive society.
