Portuguese Social Security Litigation

Spanning multiple stages, this project will address core issues relating to litigation involving the Portuguese Social Security. It will encompass the study of different types of harmful administrative acts and the ways in which they can be challenged, whether at administrative or judicial level. It will also examine a number of significant legal issues that are frequently the subject of litigation, such as compensation, payment in kind and other means of settling debts, the provision of guarantees, enforcement proceedings, statute of limitations, insolvency, and penalty charges.

Besides internal sessions designed to encourage cross-team knowledge sharing, the project entails organising an array of public events, the launch of a specialised training course, and a culminating conference that will bring all participants together. A key outcome will be the publication of a collective volume crafted to strike a balance between scholarly rigour and instructional accessibility. This is therefore a far-reaching initiative that not only seeks in-depth research, but also the production of pedagogical resources and the diffusion of knowledge of serviceable applicability.
