Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) has grown in Portugal and is seen as a way to build a diversified justice system, one that is closer to the citizen. As a consequence, family mediation has assumed a greater preponderance in different legal diplomas in the area of Family and Children’s Law. As such, it will be important to raise awareness about some of the most important aspects related to family mediation, from its legal framework to the communication techniques applied by mediators.
