Cátedra Carlos Lloyd Braga honors the patron of FCLB and first dean of UMinho, extolling its multifaceted cultural, university and civic profile. It is awarded annually to a national or foreign personality, on proposal of Schools / Institutes, departments or research centers of this academy and framed in a scientific-cultural program of activities. This edition of the Chair was a joint proposal of the Institute of Social Sciences, the School of Law and the School of Psychology, dedicated to the scientific area of Criminology.
This year marks the 17th edition, which has been honored by Dan Urry, Richard Watson, Ludo Kleitjens, Denis McQuail, Marshall Stoneham, Cândido Varela de Freitas, Joseph Gonnella, Ives Gandra Martins, Michael Myers, Laura Cavalcante Padilha, Martha Elizabeth Shenton, Richard Blundell, Anne & Jean Philippe Vassal, Karen Luker, Aaron Williamon and Hans-Jörg Albrecht.
