Today’s Urban Planning Law faces multiple challenges, related to the profound and constant changes that are being felt in its complex subject matter, thus calling for an interdisciplinary effort in its study, which is soon felt in sensitive issues, such as those related to the implementation of smart cities, the protection and enhancement of Heritage, Housing and Sustainable Tourism, as well as digitization, simplification and transparency in the exercise of urban administrative procedural activity.

In this sense, drawing on contributions from legal science, but also from economic, social and political sciences, and without forgetting the contributions from the research project “Smart cities and Law, e. governance and rights” research project, which resulted in a significant number of collective works on Digital Governance, Smart Cities and Law(s), this Colloquium aims to be a broad space for reflection on some of the most pressing issues surrounding the growth and development of cities, while highlighting the importance of regulating these phenomena and, in this way, contributing to the consolidation of a model of digital, sustainable, resilient, close, transparent and accountable Public Governance, and is aimed at students, researchers, (Local) Public Administration workers and other interested parties.
