JusGov researcher Teresa Coelho Moreira took part in the “Negócios” programme on the Now channel, where she discussed the challenges posed by digital platforms to the contemporary world of work and to the protection of workers’ rights.

In her remarks, our researcher underlined that the recent amendments to labour legislation, while seeking to adapt to the phenomenon of digital platforms, may paradoxically intensify workers’ vulnerability. Thereby, she suggested that the fragmentation of work relations and the dematerialisation of contractual ties give rise to new forms of structural precariousness, complicating the attribution of responsibility and the effective enforcement of labour rights in an environment increasingly mediated by algorithms and digital management models.

This media appearance by Teresa Coelho Moreira highlights the JusGov community’s commitment to keeping up to date with the structural changes to labour law in a technology-driven context. It also reinforces the Centre’s mission to encourage legal and ethical reflection on the ever-changing nature of labour and social relations in today’s world.
