JusGov researcher Maria Miguel Carvalho took part in three high-impact academic initiatives within the Iberian intellectual-property ecosystem.
On 14 November 2025, she took part in the seminar “La Protección Jurídica de la Presentación de los Alimentos (Food Design)”, held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Santiago de Compostela, where—in addition to serving on the Organising Committee—she presented the paper “La protección de la presentación de los alimentos a través del Derecho de marcas”. The seminar forms part of the research project PID2023-147552NB-I00 “Industria alimentaria y bienes inmateriales“, funded by MICIU/AEI and FEDER, in which our Centre’s researcher is also engaged.
In addition, on 2 December, Maria Miguel Carvalho delivered a session on “Marketing e Marcas” in the Micro-credential Course in Intellectual Property (APDI/Coimbra Business School) and, on 4 December, our researcher took part in the “VII Congresso de Propriedade Intelectual” (APDI/Almedina) with the presentation “Problemas jurídicos relativos à capacidade distintiva da marca e à classificação de produtos e serviços à luz da jurisprudência europeia recente”.
These contributions illustrate the dynamism and collaborative ethos of the JusGov community, which stands out in contemporary legal thought on trade marks and intangible assets, as well as in the specialised training of professionals working in strategic domains for socio-economic development, corporate competitiveness and sustainability, and the emergence and consolidation of innovation ecosystems grounded in intellectual capital.
