JusGov consolidates its prominent standing at the confluence of law and artificial intelligence through the appointment of three of its researchers to the Scientific Committee of the 20th edition of the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL 2025). This distinguished international gathering, to be held from 16 to 20 June 2025 at Northwestern University, Chicago, ranks amongst the foremost global fora for deliberation on the applications of artificial intelligence within the juridical domain.

JusGov is honoured to be represented on the ICAIL 2025 Scientific Committee by three of its researchers: Maria Miguel Carvalho, Flávia Noversa Loureiro, and Francisco Pacheco de Andrade.

In addition to its participation in the Scientific Committee, JusGov will contribute to the conference programme with the presentation of the paper entitled “AI-based Consumer’s Creditworthiness Fate Needs EU ‘Lawgorythmics’ to Innovate”, authored by our Centre’s affiliated doctoral and non-doctoral researchers Diogo Morgado Rebelo, Francisco Pacheco de Andrade, and Paulo Novais. This study advances a critical appraisal of the deployment of artificial intelligence in assessing consumer creditworthiness, advocating for an innovative juridical framework attuned to the European context.

JusGov’s participation in ICAIL 2025 underscores its sustained commitment to cutting-edge research and its contribution to the advancement of knowledge at the intersection of law and technology. It likewise reinforces the position of JusGov, the School of Law of the University of Minho, and the city of Braga as loci of excellence in interdisciplinary scholarship.
