As part of the “Cientificamente Provável” (FCT) Program, we will be receiving a visit from students and teachers from the Humanities class at EBS Arga e Lima, where they will get to know some of the various areas of legal research being carried out at JusGov (Justice and Governance Research Centre). The program, specially prepared for EBS Arga e Lima, includes various activities, including presentations by Junior and Senior Researchers from Jusgov on Sports Law or “smart” devices, the network and data protection. EDUM’s student associations will also take a very active part in the program, talking to the visiting students about their academic experiences on the Law and Criminology courses and their activities, ending with a mock hearing in the afternoon conducted by the student associations themselves.
The “Cientificamente Provável” Program, a national initiative launched by the then Ministries of Education and Science, Technology and Higher Education, is promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and aims, among other things, to promote closer ties between primary and secondary education and higher education through the intermediation of school libraries, in this case with JusGov, and is held each year at the School of Law (EDUM).

The initiative, as stated in its objectives, is designed to contribute to the “dilution of obstacles and the enhancement of young people’s possibilities of choosing their professional future”, and to provide primary and secondary school students with contact with the reality of researchers, motivating them to deepen their knowledge and to pursue, if they so decide, higher studies in the areas of their interests.
The program is in line with the United Nations’ objectives in this area, pointing out that: “Youth participation and empowerment are key drivers of sustainable development and peace around the world” (UN, 2020).
