Carlos Abreu Amorim, Portuguese Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and researcher at our Centre, attended the first launch session of the book Principles of Criminal Justice in Portuguese-Speaking Countries and Territories, held at the Autonomous University of Lisbon.

The launch took place during the fourth edition of SIECO — the International Seminar on Corruption Studies — devoted to “Corporate and Economic Crime: Issues of Attribution and the Right of Defence”. Bringing together an international group of specialists, scholars, and legal practitioners, the seminar encouraged a thorough reflection on contemporary challenges in the criminal liability of companies and their agents, the limits of attribution, procedural safeguards, and the balance between the effectiveness of justice and the protection of fundamental rights.

The presence of Carlos Abreu Amorim is a testament to the symbiotic relationship between political leadership and scientific excellence, showcasing the significance and reach of the research emanating from the JusGov community.
