As previously reported, in 2023, JusGov’s researcher Alex Sander Pires was appointed Chair-Elect of the IPSA Research Committee 26 (RC26) on Human Rights. Building on this mandate, in July of this year, he was unanimously elected Chair of RC26. The official ratification of his election is now recorded in IPSA’s public registers, accessible at https://www.ipsa.org/page/rc26-human-rights.

This appointment carries a dual honour. Firstly, it recognises our researcher’s capacity to contribute to the theoretical and practical development of human rights from the perspective of a culture of peace. Secondly, it allows him to perform these duties in conjunction with his research affiliation at our GLOB, thereby providing a very meaningful contribution to the global visibility and impact of our scholarly community.

The election of Alex Sander Pires comes at a particularly significant moment in world history, reflecting both the importance of human rights scholarship and the need for academic leadership in addressing contemporary global challenges. Our researcher’s tenure as Chair promises to advance RC26’s mission of fostering rigorous research, international collaboration, and dialogue on human rights issues worldwide.

This distinction serves as an irrefutable testament to the value and excellence of the JusGov community, which continues to assert itself with prestige and relevance on the international academic stage.
