In the year 2054, a system exists that enables crimes to be predicted with precision. Detective John Anderton, one of the leading agents in crime prevention, discovers that an assassination has been foreseen—one that he himself is destined to commit—casting doubt on his presumption of innocence and on the reliability of the system.

In a Science Café designed to foster interaction with the audience, Fernando Conde Monteiro and Ricardo Menna Barreto will unpack some of the key ideas in the film Minority Report, revisiting this contemporary classic that raises troubling questions from the standpoint of criminal law, criminology, and legal philosophy—questions that have regained relevance in light of artificial intelligence.
