In the 2022 edition, JusGov offers three activities:

  1. Talking about research in Justice and Governance (22 November, 3 p.m., duration: 1h30 – online)

The proposed activity corresponds to an action of dissemination of the research activity carried out at JusGov, targeting the public in general and university and high school students in particular.

By presenting the work that has been developed by JusGov researchers and highlighting the contribution to the advancement of knowledge, the practical relevance for policy makers, legal professionals, companies, etc., seeks to demonstrate the relevant role of Law to address the challenges of contemporary society, such as those identified in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular, the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, the achievement of gender equality, the promotion of access to justice for all and the construction of effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels. At the same time, it is intended to contribute to the scientific initiation of new researchers.

The format of the proposed activity favours bringing together the public and secondary school and university students, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary research.

This talk will begin with the presentation of JusGov and its research groups and the School of Researchers. Then, the “InclusiveCourts” project, which was recently concluded, will be presented as an example of JusGov’s activity.

With the participation of the principal researcher for the referred project, as well as the presence of junior researchers of the project, interaction with the public will be encouraged, including the possibility for the public to ask questions to the speakers.

  1. Slowfashionistas – Less is cool (November 25th, 11:30am, duration: 50 minutes – online)

Young people today have grown up in a consumerist culture, where happiness is identified with the possession of material goods. Empirical studies show, however, that more minimalist consumption patterns not only favour the environment, but also one’s own well-being and personal fulfilment. This interactive workshop will explain why we should rethink the way we consume and the ways we can do it every day. This workshop will be led by Marta Santos Silva, a researcher specialised in this field. The target public for this activity are secondary school students and 1st year students of various degree courses (Law, Management, Marketing, among others).
