The public presentation of the UMinho Scientific Research Initiation Award 2024 took place on December 5th.
This initiative, promoted by the Rectorate in conjunction with the University of Minho’s research centers, has allowed undergraduate and first-year integrated master’s students to develop scientific projects as part of research teams of recognized merit over the last few months.
Students Maria Beatriz de Lemos Teixeira e Melo and Beatriz Basto Lima de Araújo Gama presented the projects they had developed within the scope of JusGov:
Maria Beatriz de Lemos Teixeira e Melo – “The actions of the Supreme Court of Justice in cases of domestic violence against women in the current decade” (supervision Prof. Joaquim Rocha);
Beatriz Basto Lima de Araújo Gama – “The Meaning and Purpose of Criminal Sanctions: The conception of more humane sentences” (supervised by Prof. Ana Rita Simões).
Student Maria Beatriz de Lemos Teixeira e Melo won an award for her project.
JusGov congratulates the students for their excellent participation, in particular Maria Beatriz de Lemos Teixeira e Melo, and gives special thanks to the professors who supervised these projects, as well as to Prof. Hugo Flores, coordinator of JusGov’s participation in the UMinho Prize.
