The book Economia Colaborativa (Sharing Economy), coordinated by Maria Miguel Carvalho and Anabela Gonçalves, has just been published.
The importance of analysing the main legal challenges raised by the sharing economy – given the impact of the paradigm changes in business models and the subjects involved – is undeniable, as is the need to promote legal certainty for these practices, which boost economic growth and social well-being.
The Centre for Research in Justice and Governance (JusGov) has set up a multidisciplinary team which also includes researchers from other areas, such as economics and management, from the various groups within JusGov – although with a special contribution by E-TEC (State, Business and Technology) group researchers – and from other prestigious national and international institutions. The aim of this project was to identify the legal problems raised by the sharing economy and to assess whether there are already solutions to them, while reflecting on the suitability of amendments or if there is any need to create new provisions.
The outcome of this research is presented in this book, which is intended to encourage further debate on this topic.
