SUMMARY:Workshop "Philosophy of Language and Law"
DESCRIPTION:This workshop\, part of the research project “Legal Language\, Legal Hermeneutics and the Legitimacy of Legal Decisions” (JusLab/JusGov)\, proposes a reflection on the relationship between Philosophy of Language and Law\, based on Wittgenstein’s philosophical reflection on rules\, so that questions about meaning\, general normativity and legal normativity\, as well as other themes dear to Law\, such as conventions\, indeterminacy\, interpretation and decision can also be discussed\, in the context of the proposed reflection on rules. Aspectos Teóricos e Práticos” (Coimbra\, Almedina\, 2024)\, authored by Professors Ricardo de Macedo Menna Barreto (EDUM) and Cristóvão Atílio Viero (UFOB\, Brazil). The book will be presented by Professor Joana Aguiar e Silva (EDUM).\nAfter the presentation of the book\, the authors intend to present together the essential features of legal research today\, seeking to revive research in law. The aim is to problematize legal research\, presenting its main challenges and its prospects for a solid legal education.
