International Workshop Gender, Law and Literature | May 13th 2019
This workshop will explore the possible intersection between feminist legal theories and literature, by bringing together feminist thinkers from law and literature.
Throughout history, women have had their stories told in literature, as well as in law and even in legal procedures. Thus, the debate on issues such as whether women should be arguing for equality or difference can be examined through court decisions, scholarly essays and novels. Examining the ways in which women have been represented will show how these narratives (the ones that disempower women, as well as those that help to demonstrate their discrimination) can make evident issues raised by feminist legal theories.
