Researchers from the University of Minho (UMINHO), the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR) and the University of Vale do Itajaí (UNIVALI) organised three Portuguese-Brazilian seminars on restorative justice: two in Fortaleza and one in Itajaí. Now follows a fourth International Seminar, co-organized by the Criminal Justice and Criminology (JUSCRIM) Research Group of the Research Centre for Justice and Governance (JUSGOV) of the UMINHO Law School (EDUM), within the scope of the Penalties + Humane project, by the Laboratório de Ciências Criminais (LACRIM) of the UNIFOR Postgraduate Law Programme (PPGD), and by the Grupo de Governança, Constitucionalismo, Transnacionalidade e Sustentabilidade (GCTS) of the UNIVALI Postgraduate Programme in Legal Science.

Following the creation of the Rede de Investigação em Direito Lusófono (REDIL), on May 23, 2019, in Fortaleza, by a group of institutions from several Portuguese speaking countries and regions, it was understood that this Seminar should count on the participation of Authors from these countries and regions. Authors will speak at a time that will be accessible to all interested parties, from Fortaleza (Brazil) to Dili (Timor-Leste), with a difference of 12 hours. The theme is the same as always: restorative justice. However, it is not a matter of giving praise to this proposal for the resolution of criminal conflicts, but a matter of looking at it in a critical and constructive sense. Now also with an added novelty: bringing the experiences of several Portuguese speaking countries and regions. JUSCRIM, LACRIM and GCTS thus take an important step in scientific exchange, in the area of ​​Law and within Portuguese speaking countries and regions, taking advantage of new technologies, shortening distances and minimizing the negative effects of the Pandemic.
