The International Conference Basic Income: a Tool for a Social Europe?, organized by the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society (CEPS), in partnership with the School of Law of the University of Minho, the Research Centre for Justice and Governance (JUSGOV), the Association RBI-Portugal, the Portuguese Catholic University (Porto Regional Centre), the University of Porto, Forum Demos, and with the institutional support of the Secretariat for European Affairs as well as the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of the Portuguese Government, will be held at the University of Minho, from the 24th until the 26th January, 2019.

Basic Income is increasingly becoming a relevant policy measure when discussing some of the current challenges faced by welfare states. In Europe, the discussion is strengthened by the work and comment of researchers, politicians and civic society, all reflecting on the opportunities and challenges a Basic Income can entail.

This is the background for the Conference Basic Income: a Tool for a Social Europe?, which will gather both researchers studying and advocating for Basic Income, politicians, representatives of European institutions and students.
The conference will be held at the auditorium of the School of Law in January 24th and 25th, and at the Centre for Ethics, Politics and Society  on January 26th.
