On December 10, the School of Law will open its doors to the entire academic community for an international conference on human rights, marking the 20th anniversary of the Master’s Degree in Human Rights, as well as the human rights research carried out at the Justice and Governance Research Center (JusGov).
The program includes an opening lecture on the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union on fundamental rights, by Nuno Piçarra, Judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union, ten thematic panels on the various areas of research in which the Master’s in Human Rights has excelled (international migration, cultural diversity, rights of people with disabilities, access to justice, artificial intelligence, environment, health and bioethics, gender equality, armed conflicts, democracy and good governance), with interventions by lecturers and researchers from the University of Minho and other Portuguese and foreign universities, Masters in Human Rights, magistrates and members of civil society organizations, and a round table on the future of teaching and research in human rights, with the participation of all the researchers who have directed the Masters in Human Rights over these 20 years.
