Robert Junqueira asks what it means to go beyond merely “hearing” the child in family, educational, religious, and administrative settings. He argues that child voice becomes meaningful only when institutions position the child safely, give reasons, calibrate safeguards to vulnerability and risk, and provide reviewable routes for repair. Junqueira’s focus is on child-friendly justice as responsive equality in practice, not on participation as a formal ritual. This presentation, chaired by Edwin Lapp, is part of the 2026 JusGov Internship Programme with the University of Pennsylvania.
