JusGov researcher, Professor Patrícia Jerónimo, lectured about the legal framework of Human Rights in Portugal. JusGov Assistant Researcher, Gema Souto, also participated in the open lecture.
On February 23rd, under the Erasmus+ KA122-SCH programme “Agents of Change,” students and their professors Maria-Ismini Chrysanthou, Stelios Zaproudis, and Eleni Kontou from the Menemeni High School “Dido Sotiriou” formed the Greek delegation that made a stop at the Law School (EDUM) as part of their activities related to the core thematic areas of the programme, which focus on minorities and Human Rights in the European Union.
The day began with a visit to the EDUM library, where the figure of Dr. Francisco Salgado Zenha was commemorated on the 100th anniversary of his birth, highlighting his work as a human rights lawyer before the April 25th Revolution.
Following this, JusGov Researcher and Board Member of the Master’s in Human Rights, Professor Dr. Patrícia Jerónimo, gave an open lecture on Human Rights in Portugal: Legal and Institutional Framework and Key Areas of Concern. The lecture also featured the participation of JusGov Assistant Researcher, Dr. Gema Souto, and raised questions about the similarities and differences in human rights protection in Spain, particularly regarding the existence of the “Recursos de amparo” before the Spanish Constitutional Court. The session lasted two hours, filled with lively questions and debate from all participants.
Finally, the Greek delegation and JusGov Researchers had lunch at the University’s canteen, before bidding farewell to the students and professors who visited us. Afterward, they enjoyed a tour of the city of Braga following a very fruitful visit to the Law School.
