Synopsis Reflecting on the justice or injustice of social institutions is not something we can afford to ignore. Whether we want it or not, we live in political communities that condition the aspects in which each of us is treated with equality or inequality, which distribute the benefits and burdens of life in society, sometimes in an extremely unbalanced way and difficult to justify. Conceptualizing justice and thinking in what sense political action should guide it is not therefore a purely academic matter. It is also the only way to ensure that any political community can exist throughout the generations, with stability, by encouraging the support of citizens for their basic values and for the institutions that carry them out.
